1255 Foundation of Konigsberg by Peppo Ostern von Wertgaint, the grandmaster of Teutonic Order, and Czech king Przhemysl II Otakar.

1261 Finish of the first wooden fortress Koenigsberg building and beginning of a stone fortress building.

1278-1292 Erection of northern stone part of Koenigsberg castle. 1286 Formation of Altstadt, the first town near Koenigsberg castle.

1309 Konigsberg becomes the residence of Great Marshal of Teutonic Order 1325 Cathedral is founded in Knaiphof Island.

1339 Konigsberg enters Ganzu trade alliance of Baltic cities.

1360 First amber workshop is created.

1534 Opening of Royal Library in Koenigsberg. The library became public in 1540.

1551 Population of Koenigsberg amounted 14000.

1579 Withdrawal of Koenigsberg from Ganza Alliance.

1756 Beginning of 7-year war of Prussia with Russia.

1756 Entry of Russian army in Konigsberg. Russian commander A. V. Suvorov visited Koenigsberg.

1762 Russian troops left Koenigsberg.

1813 Russian troops entered Koenigsberg chasing the French who were falling back.

1824 Physicist G. R. Kirghof was born in Koenigsberg.

1844 Construction of the University new building in Paraden Platz.

1849 Erection of «Kronprinz» casern and Lithuanian wall.

1896 Opening of Koenigsberg Zoo.

1900 Adalbert kirche and Luisen kirche were built (Pobeda Square). A defence ring consisting of 12 forts is erected around Konigsberg.

1914 Beginning of World War I. Russian troops came to Koenigsberg surroundings.

1919 According to Versailles Agreement, Prussia becomes a self-dependant province of Weimar German Republic. Airdrome Devau is opened in Koenigsberg.

1939 Germany assaulted Poland; beginning of Warld War Second.

1941 Raids of Soviet aviation were made to Konigsberg in July and in autumn.

1944 Raids of British aviation were made to Konigsberg in August; they destructed central part of the city.

1945 Russian troops seized Hailigenbail (Mamonovo) and Balga castle in March. Storm of Konigsberg started on the 6th of April; Koenigsberg capitulated on the 9th of April.

1945 Agreement of Great Powers about passing of Koenigsberg and eastern part of Prussia to Soviet Union was signed in August, 2 in Potsdam.

1946 According to decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on the 4th of July, Koenigsberg was renamed to Kaliningrad, and Koenigsberg region was renamed to Kaliningrad region.
